Heavy weather and big suspense were brought to our team at the final round of the GT4 European Series Northern Cup at the Nürburgring in Germany.
On the first two days of the weekend everyone was freezing in the cold weather of the Eifel. Heavy rain and temperatures of far under 10 degrees Celsius made everyone struggle with carrying out one’s work. In the two free practice sessions Mads Siljehaug and Jamie Vandenbalck were struggling with conditions and tires. For that reason we were only able to set times equivalent to position 14 and 23. Saturday brought the two qualifying sessions, race 1 and fortunately better weather. The two qualifying sessions took place under dry conditions and so Mads and Jamie were able to set a couple of very fast lap times. After Q1 #64 qualified on P3 and due to some major traffic and minor issues in the second qualifying session, we qualified on P18 after Q2.
After Q2 the sky look very cloudy and there was a forecast saying that it would be raining during race 1. Fortunately it stayed dry and Mads and Jamie started a firework of real racing and fighting for positions. It was real fun to watch the guys plough through the field to finish on P5. On Sunday weather got better an even the sun was coming out to raise the temperatures a couple of degrees. It also stayed dry during race 2 and so we were able to finish in top ten again on P7.
Mads and Jamie were fighting hard and so they were able to set some fast laps resulting in good points for the Reiter Young Stars competition. Mads won another first place in the RYS!
After all the counting was done Mads Siljehaug and Lenny Marioneck from #34 RYS Team Kiska won the Reiter Young Stars Cup and therefore the fully paid GT3 Cockpit for the next season! Jamie Vandenbalck finished on the ungrateful third place in RYS.
We wish the two guys all the best for the next season and a lot of fun with the GT3!
